As I struggled with postnatal depression, I began to feel called back to the things that made me feel like me as Em was still in there somewhere and that took the form of connecting with likeminded people on social media to discuss crystals, oracle decks and energy healing. All of a sudden, whoosh! It was as though the floodgates opened.

Having experienced my first shamanic retreat 10 years ago, I quietly set the intention to train as a practitioner, but it was not meant to happen until I had been through a time of deep personal pain and darkness, both physically and emotionally, at which point I was brought to a teacher to begin my training. As I did so, the world locked down and two months after I stepped on to the shamanic path, I left my job as a solicitor and I knew then that Spirit meant business. I completely changed my career: I now have one foot still in the law working in legal education and content writing and the other as an energy healer, spiritual copywriter and book editor. I featured in Spirit & Destiny Magazine and also had the pleasure of working on freelance projects for Soul & Spirit Magazine; now I have the honour of being the sub-editor and a columnist for Indie Shaman and hold a part-time role as the Operations & Author Relations Magician for The Unbound Press alongside my spiritual offerings.
